Individual Therapy
Some gay men and women are aware of their sexual identity at an early age, while others remain confused and uncertain for many years. Similarly, awareness about gender identity can emerge in childhood, adolescence or adulthood. Each of us has struggled at some time with feeling different from others, not fitting in, holding a burdensome secret, or feeling ashamed. Individual therapy provides an opportunity to overcome the difficulties that remain with us from these struggles. As a therapist with over 25 years of experience counseling gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals, I can help you address these issues in addition to the specific problems that are leading you to seek help at this time. These problems may include stress, anxiety, depression, coming out difficulties, difficulty creating or sustaining an intimate relationship, recovery from substance abuse or coping with HIV.
You can contact me by phone at 203-776-1966 or

, whichever is easiest for you. At the first session we'll begin by reviewing your current problems and specifying treatment goals. We'll go on to take a look at your personal and family history and examine how the events of your life affect your current struggles. I'll help you identify specific steps you can take to get yourself on the road to feeling better. Closely examining your view of yourself and your experiences can also help improve self-esteem and self-awareness, and contribute to your progress in reaching your goals.
